First of all…..Thank You, all! I’ve been without a computer for a week. We got new hardwood floors, and almost everything was stored in the garage. We have floors, no baseboards, and a lot of dust. Minor bump in the road, but forward ho!
October means Balloon Fiesta month at our house!
We have been going for a few years now. Actually, since 2008. I had to miss ’09 Balloon Fiesta, only because I was 9 months pregnant with #4, but the crew still went. We also missed last year, only because #2 was graduating from Army Basic Training. Kind of a big deal. 🙂 If you haven’t ever been before, you have to put it on your bucket list. I will meet you all down there, and we will have a blast. Those of you who have been will know just what I’m talking about when I say, it’s one of the most amazing things you will ever see. I can’t describe into words the sights you will see, the feelings you will feel, or the warm burning you will get in your bosom, but you have to experience it.
The Fiesta last two full weeks, usually the first two weeks in October. Every morning the balloons take off from the field. Throughout the day there are numerous activities, then again at night…they have the night ballon glow. That is where they stay down on the field, but use the flame to light the balloons up with. It’s so, so awesome! One year, I will stay the whole two week duration! This year we stayed four days. We just take the RV down, and stay adjacent to the flight field. It is so easy just to walk to and from Balloon Fiesta Park. You don’t have to deal with any traffic, parking, or idiot drivers. (Note: The worst NM driver is still better than the best Utah driver.)

This year was the first year that is was a little rainy while we were there. The weather was still great….even with a little cloud cover.

This year we were able to be there during their “special shapes” launch. I’ve seen them on the field many times, but to see them in flight…was even mo betta!

We are walking to the balloon field from the RV. Super easy, super close! The balloons fly right over our heads.

Here are some balloons still getting ready to launch. Some are fixing to launch, and some have already launched.

This is our local meteorologist. He is another reason people go to the park. This year they were giving his hat away. No, I didn’t win it. Lame Sauce!
I really want some commitments out of people who are going to make the journey next year. Who’s coming down? On your mark….get set…..GO!
