French Toast and Applesauce!

Yes, you read that correctly! French toast with applesauce. If you haven’t tried it, you should! Growing up this is how Ma Miller would serve our french toast.  It wasn’t until I moved out of the house that I found out people just put syrup on their french toast. LAME! Don’t forget to sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon on top of your french toast too make it complete. It’s amazing!

Because of my new found love for Bountiful Baskets

(Bountiful Baskets is a group of people who choose to pool their money and purchase produce in large quantities from resalers at deep discounts. This allows people to have more fresh produce for less money.)

I had several red apples that I needed to use up. What’s better than fresh homemade applesauce?

Instant Pot Applesauce

8-10 apples peeled, cored, and sliced

3/4 cup water (less if you like your applesauce thicker)

1 lemon juiced

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

dash of salt

Instructions:

Place peeled and sliced apples in the bottom of your Instant Pot. Pour in water, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Close lid, seal valve, and cook on manual high pressure for 5 minutes. Let natural real ease for 10 minutes.

Remove lid and use masher to purée apples. Mash apples to your desired texture.

Serve applesauce while warm. Extra can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Who’s ready to try this? Just put a couple of spoonfuls of applesauce over your french toast, sprinkle some sugar over that, and top with a dash of cinnamon. Enjoy while still warm.  I’d love to hear if you love it or hate it.
