It’s Fall Y’all!

This post is going to be short, sweet, and to the point!  I finally hit my “excited” for fall mode.  I would like to thank my Ma-In-Law for getting me here.  She bought Zoë a new Halloween Village piece, and we can’t wait to start working on the village tomorrow.  However, in the mean time we did this today….

It Started Like This...

Step 1
Step 1

Buy however many hollow pumpkins you want for your decoration.  For this project, I picked three pumpkins, which I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

Step 2
Step 2

With my trusty glue gun, I just started ooozing glue wherever I thought it was needed.  Trust me…these bad boys aren’t going to be coming apart anytime soon.

I actually got so excited putting this together, I forgot to keep taking pictures.  Shocker?  Not really.  You’ll get used to it. 😉  BUT WAIT…..there’s more!

Our house had the front porch and sidewalk painted before we moved in.  I hate it.  I would love to stain in.  Does anyone have any insider tricks on how I can stain it?  Right now it just looks like crap. Sorry.

And to finish the day off…..homemade Oatmeal Cake.  It’s my favorite.  It comes out of the Lion House Recipe Book.  It looks like this..

Hot. Steamy. Goodness.
Hot. Steamy. Goodness.

The recipe is:

1 1/2 c boiling water

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 butter (room temp)

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pour boiling water over oats and let stand until cool.  Cream butter with  sugars and eggs until fluffy.  Add oats and water mixture. Pour into greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F. for 35-45 minutes or until cake tests done.

Spread topping (below) on baked cake as soon as it comes from the oven.

1/2 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup evaporated milk (I was all out, so I used sweeten condensed milk.  It was awesome.)

1 cup coconut

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 tablespoon vanilla

Melt butter and add sugar.  Blend.  Add remaining ingredients and spread on baked hot cake.  Place under broiler for a minute or two, until bubbly.

You will love, love, love it!

If you don’t, let me know.  I will be surprised. HAHA.

In other news……
